July 15, 2010

I am so excited to announce an amazing milestone in the history of Girls For A Change (GFC) in Maricopa County. On July 1st 1, 2010, we launched a partnership with Florence Crittenton of Arizona (www.flocrit.org). This partnership creates a historical and powerful alliance to serve girls in Maricopa County.  Florence Crittenton has committed to be an affiliate of Girls For A Change. Through this affiliate relationship Florence Crittenton will now implement the Girls For A Change program in Maricopa County. The GFC national office will continue to provide materials, support, and training to Florence Crittenton.

The benefits of this partnership are so plentiful. To name just a few: The affiliate relationship leverages Florence Crittenton’s amazing infrastructure and lowers the overall cost of the program by almost two thirds; Florence Crittenton is dedicated to widening their program to serve all girls; Girls For A Change provides a proven, best practice, and nationally-recognized program that transforms the lives of girls; And most importantly many more girls in Maricopa County will be receiving GFC due to the joint power of the two brands and Florence Crittenton’s amazing influence.

For more than five years, Florence Crittenton has been a great friend of Girls For A Change. We have always been in great admiration of the vision and mission of Florence Crittenton and I personally see Linda Volhein, CEO of Florence Crittenton, as both an inspiration and a mentor!

A word from Linda Volhein, Florence Crittenton’s Chief Executive Officer stated, “Girls For A Change is the perfect partner for Florence Crittenton because it is such an innovative and unique program. It teaches at-risk girls personal empowerment, leadership skills and how to be agents of social change in their own communities. The partnership with Girls For A Change will leverage the resources of Florence Crittenton to broaden our range of services, lower the cost of providing the program and serve even more girls.” Meghan Arrigo, our amazing GFC Phoenix Program Director, is now a Florence Crittenton employee and overseeing the transition of programming between the two agencies. Florence Crittenton is so very excited to have Meghan’s girl programming experience and her amazing personality joining their team. Meghan was offered a position nationally with GFC when this partnership was executed, but her heart is with the girls in of Arizona. GFC will dearly miss Meghan, but is so excited to continue to work with her through this partnership!

If you are as inspired as we are at the power of collaboration please consider making a donation to support Girls For A Change powered by Florence Crittenton. Click here to make a donation.

Meghan Arrigo will continue to be the Arizona contact for Girls For A Change powered by Florence Crittenton and you can reach her at [email protected]

Thank you so much for your support of our work and the girls we help. We are so proud of this partnership and hope that you will support the power of our two agencies working together to increase the chances for girls to have safe and healthy lives with unlimited potential. -Whitney Smith
